The Tigers were 18th in the first College Football Playoff rankings, released Tuesday, and Texas was seventh.

Missouri has the better offense and turnover margin, but Texas' defense is ninth in the FBS in yards allowed. Coach Eli Drinkwitz said Tuesday, "It's going to be a tremendous challenge, I look forward to having a home game in an awesome atmosphere."

Mizzou quarterback Austin Simmons re-signs for 2027 with an NFL Draft option

If you were wondering about next year's Tigers: Austin Simmons has re-signed with Mizzou for the 2027 season. ESPN's Pete Thamel reported it Friday, and KCTV says Mizzou announced it the same day. Thamel reports the contract still allows Simmons to explore the NFL Draft, and ABC17 says the deal reportedly has an out if he turns pro.

Simmons joined Mizzou as a transfer from Ole Miss, where he spent three years. Through eight games, he's fourth in the SEC in passing yards and touchdowns.

Are you the fire cat lady?

“Said a man behind me in line at Hyvee. 🤣 Yeah I guess I am. But I’m not a crazy cat lady. I’m just crazy about kittens. Here’s an update on my current foster …I named her Millie. She was found in a pile of leaves…I’m posting the pathetic picture of her when she was brought into the humane society and pictures over…”

The Wrap

Columbia's first freeze of the season is likely this morning, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. If you've been putting off covering the tender plants, it's a little late, but the bright side is a quick turnaround: highs rebound to the low 60s Sunday and near 70 by Monday. Winter gave us a preview, then thought better of it.
