CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Columbia police and University of Missouri Police investigated the Eastgate Apartment complex on Sunday night as officers searched for three armed suspects—several police vehicles, crime scene tape, and a closed section of West Broadway were noted at the scene. ABC 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On June 10th, the Downtown Community Improvement District demonstrated heavy steel safety barriers in downtown Columbia to help stop vehicles from ramming into crowds during street closures. The District is working with the city to acquire a chain gate and L-shaped barrier system—designed for emergency vehicle access—so larger events can be planned by 2026. Columbia Daily Tribune
- ➤ Columbia City Council will review a study on pedestrian safety and may sign a contract with HDR Engineering to update the city's action plan and High-Injury Network map for safer streets—this contract, which costs up to $250,000 with 80% funded by a federal grant, is expected to lead to projects that will continue through early winter.
