- ➤ The CACC Culinary Kitchen is hosting a holiday sale today and tomorrow, offering student-made entrees, desserts, and sides from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 4203 S. Providence Rd (no pre-orders) to ease holiday meal prep while supporting the Career Center. Inside Columbia
- ➤ Hundreds attended the Holiday Food and Fund drive at the Columbia Mall and Buchheits on Wednesday, raising over $125,000 to help local families with every dollar donated providing three meals. ABC 17
- ➤ Local organizations surprised a Columbia nursing student and single mother with a reserviced car from Gerber Collision and Glass on Wednesday. The donation (part of the National Auto Body Council's Recycled Riders program) will help her rejoin the CNA program at Job Point in January. KOMU 8
- ➤ On Wednesday, firefighters rescued a small beagle that fell through ice on a pond near East Walnut Drive in northern Boone County; they arrived at about 11:30 a.m. and promptly moved the dog to a warm+dry space. KOMU 8

- ➤ A truck caught fire in the construction area near Memorial Stadium early Wednesday morning — no injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation. KRCG

- ➤ Main Squeeze, a vegetarian eatery run by Amanda Rainey and John Gilbreth, will close on Sunday, Dec. 21 after owners announced the shutdown on Instagram yesterday; a new concept retaining its healthy menu is planned and employees will shift to Pizza Tree and Goldie’s Bagels (gift cards remain valid). - ➤ The University of Missouri’s Agricultural Systems Technology Department compared the AI-controlled Monarch MKV electric tractor with a traditional John Deere diesel tractor. Researchers found the Monarch costs less per hour & offers better energy efficiency, supporting future farming advances with new job opportunities. KRCG
- ➤ T.J. Higgins, band director at Southern Boone, will perform with Saluting America’s Band Directors in the Rose Parade on New Year's Day — following a rehearsal on Dec. 28.
