COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Central Missouri Humane Society safely returned rescued adult dogs to their owners and is still working to reunite remaining puppies (owners needed proof of ownership by Dec. 5) after taking them from a breeder’s property. KOMU 8
- ➤ Powerhouse Community Development Corporation gave out 2,312 turkeys with food boxes and served 1,823 meals on Thanksgiving Day in Columbia. The nonprofit helped local residents meet holiday food needs across the community. Columbia Missourian
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ EquipmentShare, a Columbia firm providing construction equipment and software, filed IPO paperwork Tuesday with the SEC. It will now begin a roadshow period and trade under EQPT on Nasdaq. KOMU 8
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Monday night, the Columbia Board of Education reviewed a climate survey from Columbia Public Schools that found only 53% of students felt rules were fair and 65% believed bullying was not tolerated but enforcement varied (students called for more consistent discipline and greater inclusiveness). Staff satisfaction with classroom environment and student behavior also declined slightly. ABC 17
- ➤ Mid-Missouri nursing programs at the University of Missouri, Lincoln University, Columbia College, Central Methodist University & State Technical College received $800K from the Nursing Education Incentive Program to support faculty development, simulation, virtual reality technology, student scholarships, and program expansion. - ➤ Four candidates have filed for the school board contest in Columbia as the candidate window opens, with three seats available in the April election (filing deadline: Dec. 30). Columbia Missourian

- ➤ This morning, Emery Sapp and Sons will close North Fifth Street between Park Avenue and East Ash Street for water line connections at East Park Avenue Apartments. Drivers will be detoured via North Seventh Street and work is expected to end by 5 p.m. Dec. 31 weather permitting. KOMU 8
