- ➤ Cyclists gathered in Columbia Saturday afternoon wearing holiday attire to support Cranktivus, a bike ride and food drive benefiting The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri. Riders began at Walt’s Bike Shop and visited five grocery stores to boost donations and purchase groceries for local residents. KRCG
- ➤ Yesterday, Dec. 6, two Jeep Wranglers were stuffed with new toys at Logboat Brewing Company to complete 40 wish lists for Missouri kids — organizers collected 160 items and aim to fill up to five Jeeps. KRCG
- ➤ Today, the United States Tiger Foundation hosts an event at 11:53 a.m. at the Boone County Courthouse to honor Pearl Harbor victims and 19 local sailors. The ceremony features speeches from local officials — including executives and council members — and collects blankets and pet beds for veterans. ABC 17

- ➤ City of Refuge hosted its third annual Holiday Market today in Columbia where refugees sold their products and shared their culture with local residents. Columbia Missourian
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Missouri's Legion of Black Collegians marked the 10-year anniversary of the Concerned Student 1950 movement on Saturday at Ragtag Cinema — highlighting student-led efforts to boost representation and teach black history. - ➤ Lincoln University received a $725,669 grant from the National Science Foundation to study how to make rural towns stronger in mid-Missouri (using interviews and surveys to learn from business and community feedback). - ➤ Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia provided 24-hour end-of-life care for guests in a home-like setting—family members could visit—and hosted its 2025 Lights for Love fundraiser in October to support free services.
