EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Stephens College bought Nourish Café and Market in downtown Columbia and will turn it into a student learning lab while keeping its organic menu and current staff—students will gain hands-on skills in business and communication design, and net revenue will fund scholarships starting in 2026. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Columbia City Council approved a new building design at the recycling site—replacing the structure damaged by the April 20 tornado—with a budget of about $3.5 million funded by insurance reimbursement and capital funds. Construction will take 12 to 18 months. ABC 17
- ➤ The VA announced Tuesday that it permanently housed 51,936 homeless veterans nationwide in fiscal year 2025, which is 4,011 more than last year. The program includes housing 158 veterans from Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia — part of ongoing efforts to support veterans. KOMU 8

- ➤ The city of Columbia will host its monthly Let's Talk Local discussion on Dec. 9 at Fairview Community of Christ at 1111 S. - ➤ The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services awarded Abbot Laboratories the WIC manufacturer rebate contract, giving the company the exclusive right to supply formulas to WIC participants.
