  • A Columbia man, Ray Redmond, was charged with Second Degree Drug Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance after deputies found 58 grams of meth and 1.5 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop near a known drug house.  KRCG
  • The Missouri State Highway Patrol warns of a surge in credit card skimmers at gas pumps statewide, advising extra vigilance.  ABC 17
  • After a high-speed chase in Boone County, the driver fled into the woods, leaving behind a vehicle with a passenger, a gun, and drugs; no public threat is reported.  ABC 17
  • Columbia restaurant owner Crystal Umfress is due in court for impersonating officials and other charges, including arson for allegedly hiring someone to burn down a competitor's establishment.  ABC 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Columbia Public Schools will pay former Superintendent Brian Yearwood $667,268.90 as part of a retirement agreement, with Yearwood retiring on Dec. 31 and the district hiring Chris Belcher as interim superintendent.  KOMU 8

  • The Boone County Commission is set to decide on approving a Youth Success Initiative grant worth $425,000 aimed at funding intervention services for youth to prevent juvenile delinquency.  ABC 17
