Hundreds walked and ran in the 9th annual Lizzy's Walk of Faith 5K held Saturday to support the fight against pediatric cancer.
Founded by John and Jennifer Wampler, the event raised about $200K for St. Jude's, the Osteosarcoma Institute and the foundation.
🎭 Culture
MidMo PrideFest, which began Saturday and continues today until 10 p.m., has implemented a nine-step emergency protocol approved by local law enforcement to keep 8,000 expected fairgoers safe.
Festival president Janet Davis said the plan uses teamwork + de-escalation techniques.
The Missourian won 29 awards in the 2026 Press Association contest, earning eight first-place, 11 second-place and 10 third-place prizes — while Boone County Journal earned four awards.

🏥 Health
Between Monday and Thursday, Mizzou Homecoming Blood Drive collected a record 5,150 units with support from over 100 Red Cross staff and donors.
The effort produced 643 gallons to aid patients ahead of the Tigers’ Oct. 3 game against the Gators — marking a milestone in 115 years of Homecoming.
The Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Boone County Public Health and Human Services will host a naloxone education and distribution event at noon on Wednesday at CenterPointe Hospital in Columbia.
Community members will learn to recognize opioid overdose signs and administer naloxone nasal spray.
