COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Agriculture Park hosted the 16th annual Harvest Hootenanny where Columbia high school students prepared main dishes like pulled pork and barbeque chicken using local ingredients for a free community event that required ticket purchase to support CCUA’s program. The festival featured carnival games, vendors, music, square dancing and live animals — a celebration of local talent and the harvest season. KOMU 8

CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Columbia’s annual Heritage Festival returned to Nifong Park this weekend and continues today with free admission, craft booths, and family activities. Organized by Columbia Parks and Recreation, the event features demonstrations of lost arts — including weaving and blacksmithing — and live music and dance with free shuttles from nearby parking. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Columbia received $14.3 million from a settlement following a 2014 lawsuit with CenturyLink—now Brightspeed—over unpaid licensing taxes and fees. Columbia Missourian
- ➤ Nine streets in central and south Columbia will get pavement maintenance from the Columbia Public Works Department as crews start mill and overlay work on South Providence Road at 7 a.m. Monday, and the project is set to finish by October 3—temporary lane closures and No Parking signs will be posted 24 hours ahead, weather permitting. - ➤ Ahmad Hardy rushed for 138 yards and scored a touchdown as Missouri beat South Carolina 29-20 Saturday night, with Beau Pribula leading a go-ahead fourth-quarter drive and the Tigers’ stout defense forcing key stoppages to secure a 14th home win. KOMU 8
- ➤ On Saturday, the Mizzou Tigers faced South Carolina at Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m. with 31 fans ejected for alcohol issues, lower than the 41 reported in their last meeting, while drivers headed to Columbia faced delays on I-70 due to MoDOT work—Mizzou will host its homecoming game on Sept 27 at 6:30 p.m. ABC 17
