- ➤ On Wednesday evening, about 1,000 people gathered at Traditions Plaza on the University of Missouri campus for the Columbia for Christ event organized by CoMo for Christ, planned weeks in advance to foster community unity, while local food trucks provided food and MU Police maintained security. - ➤ Emily Goes, a University of Missouri graduate, testified at City Council that her lease ended on July 15 and a new one began on August 6, leaving her without stable housing for three weeks. - ➤ The University of Missouri submitted a list of groups approved and denied for next week's Homecoming Parade following a court order and changes in its parade policy — 10 groups, including Mizzou Students for Justice in Palestine, were not approved due to safety concerns or theme fit. - ➤ On Sept 18, the University of Missouri sent a letter to faculty and staff warning that personal social media posts can disrupt university operations—employees have special obligations regarding free speech. - ➤ The Columbia Board of Education met last Thursday and discussed a public safety announcement on safe gun storage using the Be SMART campaign—Board President John Lyman said the board will review school district resolutions and work with the community and CPD to inform parents while planning to revisit the resolution in November and release the PSA in December. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MoDOT announced that starting at midnight on September 25, crews will turn off the traffic signals at the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and Providence Road in Columbia for a cabinet upgrade—stop signs will replace the signals until they are expected to resume by 6 a.m. KOMU 8

- ➤ Birdie's Deli will host a popup event at Logboat Brewing Co. on Saturday from 2—6 p.m.—chef Paddy Jernigan will serve sandwiches including The Meatball, The District and The Pigpen.
