GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today at 7 p.m. the City Council will vote on Columbia’s 2026 fiscal year budget—finalized after months of planning and public hearings. The budget includes about $560 million in revenue, adjustments in the general fund, and increased funds for utilities that may impact city services. ABC 17
- ➤ Columbia City Council meets today to finalize the 2026 fiscal year budget with $559 million in revenue and $608 million in expenses including a $2 million deficit in the general fund caused by higher employee payroll costs — council members plan to cut spending in materials, supplies, travel and training and delay some hiring to manage the gap.
