ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Columbia firefighters responded to a house fire in the 4700 block of Derby Ridge Drive around 1:42 a.m.—they had the flames under control by 2 a.m. before the fire reignited at 3 a.m.—and one adult died, one is in critical condition, and two cats were found dead while the fire marshal investigates the cause. - ➤ Columbia police confirmed a man died and two were hospitalized when firefighters responded to a house fire at 4706 Derby Ridge Drive early Monday at 1:42 a.m.—fire was controlled by just after 2 a.m. and the scene cleared by 7 a.m. ABC 17
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Columbia man, 26-year-old Davion Evans, faced charges after fleeing police and injuring two officers on Friday afternoon—he kicked one officer’s knee and broke another’s pinky while resisting arrest—and was tased twice before being subdued. KRCG
- ➤ A Columbia man was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action after he allegedly pulled a handgun during a downtown fight on Sunday at 1:56 a.m. on the 800 block of East Broadway—police recovered the gun under his vehicle’s passenger seat— and he is held on a $10,000 bond. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Southern Boone School District poured new foundation additions and set up block walls for the high school construction, while concrete for the parking lot was completed and roof replacement on the English wing is underway. The additions will host vocational and agricultural departments along with art and family science classrooms—all funded by an $11.6 million bond approved last year. KRCG

- ➤ Noah Gilion, a young cancer survivor who had his left leg amputated, rang the cancer-free bell at halftime during the Border War on Sept. 6th—marking the end of his treatment. MU Children's Hospital organized the event—supporting his brave fight against osteosarcoma. KRCG
