COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Missouri Vintage Fest will take place Sunday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at +MyHouse Nightclub and Sports Bar+. The event will feature over 30 vendors and free admission, and it has already received over 1,000 responses on Facebook.  Inside Columbia

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • MoDOT reported that from Jan. 1 to Aug 24, 2025, 577 people died in traffic crashes, down from 589 last year—an encouraging sign yet officials warn conditions like seasonal hazards could lead to more deaths later this year—so they continue to monitor trends closely.  ABC 17

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Starbucks employees at Range Line in Columbia staged a sip-in event to support a vote to unionize ahead of the Sept. 4 election—organizers say the vote will determine union representation for staff.  Columbia Missourian

CRIME NEWS

  • Jurors began deliberations at 2 p.m. Thursday in the murder trial of Isaac Bryant—accused of shooting Demetrius Ware in the 800 block of Grand Avenue in May 2022—while prosecutors linked Bryant to the scene through text messages and location data and the defense questioned the eyewitness account.  ABC 17
  • A 46-year-old Columbia man named Danelle Jordan attacked a sleeping man with a table leg at Turning Point on August 27 at 10:15 a.m.—the victim got a swollen face and a cut lip, was taken to a hospital, and Jordan was booked into Boone County Jail without bond.  KRCG
  • Columbia police arrested 36-year-old Charles H. Walker Jr. on August 27 after his Kia Forte failed to pull over at the Rangeline Street roundabout, and when he fled, officers found four baggies of fentanyl—one located between his buttocks—leading to charges of drug trafficking and resisting detention.  KRCG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Orr Street Studios has reopened its renovated south wing after a 2024 fire and will host art events like the First Friday Art Walk and Second Saturday for Kids this year. The studio remains a creative center for local artists and the community—showing resilience and bringing hope to Columbia.  COMO Magazine

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Missouri Department of Conservation said work to install two new electric water pumps at Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area is delayed, and the pumps will now arrive in early 2026—workers will use the original pumps with generators to manage water during migration and hunting. Access to the Missouri River parking lot remains closed for safety as construction continues to remove sediment and repair the levee breach.  KOMU 8

  • A Boone County judge ruled on Thursday that former student Riley Strain’s wrongful death lawsuit against University of Missouri fraternity members can continue after Delta Chi’s motion to dismiss one claim was approved — the ruling keeps active negligence and wrongful death claims against individual fraternity members and a local bar.  ABC 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mizzou Athletics is updating game day at Faurot Field this season with new LED lights, enhanced pyro, a Tiger Fans Zone and fan-friendly concessions at Memorial Stadium while continuing north end zone renovations—fans are urged to allow extra time on I-70 as active construction zones affect travel.  ABC 17
