- ➤ Today at Cooper’s Landing, the U.S. Exercise Tiger Commemorative Foundation holds its fifth annual Operation Sgt. Rosie event that gives free Coast Guard approved life jackets to veterans, active guardsmen and their families while offering life jackets and free dog bowls for dogs on a first come basis. The event marks the dedication of Missouri’s first life jacket loaner station built for $3000 and includes 12 life jackets in honor of fallen Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Matt Tobben — it was recognized by the Missouri House of Representatives. - ➤ The Central Missouri Humane Society got its $2.5 million matching challenge extended through August by an anonymous donor — the shelter raised over $277,000 in July with every donation matched. The group will use the funds for a new shelter on Brown School Road — though it still needs a $1 million gift to help meet its $25 million goal. KRCG

- ➤ Authorities responded Friday to swatting calls alleging an active shooter at a Moberly residence and a bomb threat at Huntsville City Hall—officials later confirmed the reports were false after thorough investigations by multiple agencies. ABC 17

- ➤ The Conley Avenue parking garage at 511 Conley Ave. reopened Friday after a $5.5 million repair project nearly a year after it closed on Aug. 17, 2024 for severe structural issues—repairs that fixed critical cracking and foundation damage. The University of Missouri launched a new parking program with pricing tiers for staff, faculty and students and will add the MU Health Care loop shuttle route Friday—improving campus transit. ABC 17

- ➤ Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services is offering back-to-school immunizations by appointment to help ensure students are ready for the school year.
