CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jack Wagner from Springfield was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the 2021 death of Columbia man Cody Garrett—court documents reveal he advised others on destroying evidence, his bond is set at $2 million, and his custody remains unclear. ABC 17
- ➤ Amanda Woodard, a nurse at University Hospital, was charged with felony stealing after she admitted to taking fentanyl for personal use from 133 partially used vials between January and May — security reported the incident to police on June 13. KOMU 8

- ➤ MU Parking and Transportation confirmed that the Conley Avenue Parking Structure will reopen Aug. 1 — following a $5.5 million repair that fixed tension cable issues — and parking permit holders can use it once the university’s new parking program and shuttle service begins. KOMU 8
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Missouri is facing a rise in food insecurity as federal cuts reduce SNAP-Ed funding—ending key programs that reached over 1.2 million people last year. MU Extension professor Joe Britt Rankin said the $11 million loss will force a restructuring of programs like Cooking Matters—with some services ending by October. KRCG
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A new Missouri Realtors report shows the median selling price reached a record high of $269,000 in the first half of 2025 while the total residential sales fell to 34,690—its lowest number since 2015.
