- ➤ Today the Columbia Tenants Union is holding a meeting at the Armory's downstairs conference room at 701 E Ash Street from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.—renters, landlords, and homeowners will discuss tenant rights, landlord issues, and brainstorm changes while sharing experiences on hidden fees, poor maintenance, difficult management, eviction, and housing insecurity. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Jefferson City woman, Mia Guthrie, 29, was charged with first-degree domestic assault after she allegedly stabbed a man in his face during a dispute on Alpine Court — she is held without bond at Cole County Jail and a court date has not been set. ABC 17
- ➤ A Boonville man, Johntelle Millens, 39, was charged with four felonies after he allegedly shot another man in Howard County on Thursday — he is held at the county jail without bond and faces arraignment Tuesday at 9 a.m. ABC 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Construction on a bridge linking Flat Branch Park to the Providence Road sidewalk will begin next week after delays. Contractor Emery Sapp and Sons will start work on Monday to install the bridge's end walls—an early step in building the 65-foot span that will provide a new route for pedestrians downtown by mid-August.
