CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Steven Brustrom, 28, from Ashland is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, domestic assault, property damage and resisting arrest after police say he deliberately hit his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend with his white sedan and drove him on the hood into a home on Parker Street in Columbia around 1:49 a.m. Monday—reports state the victim was seriously injured and taken to a hospital while Brustrom fled before being arrested and is set to appear in court Tuesday afternoon. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mizzou researchers are studying roadside plants to produce biofuels by testing plant varieties and refining conversion methods—an effort that aims to develop sustainable energy options from local resources. Columbia Missourian
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Columbia City Council annexed the Woodstock mobile home park, making it subject to city rules + the change will allow officials to better plan local services. The decision is expected to guide future development and improve oversight of the area. Columbia Missourian
- ➤ Construction on a new roundabout will begin next Monday at the intersection of West Route K and West Old Plank Road—a project designed to realign the road, add sidewalks, and lower the hill on Route K for better driver visibility. The work will include lane restrictions in phase one, has an estimated cost of $1,910,000, and is expected to finish early winter. KOMU 8
