CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kimo Spivey was found guilty of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm—he was acquitted of murder—from a May 7 shooting at a Columbia nightclub that left five people shot and one dead and he will be sentenced on September 9. KRCG
- ➤ On Thursday, a 23-year-old Columbia woman driving a silver Tesla Cybertruck with illegal front passenger tint and a child in the backseat was pulled over by Boone County police—K-9 officers later found 17 pounds of meth in a diaper bag, leading to her arrest for first degree trafficking. KRCG
- ➤ Columbia police taped off a home in the 200 block of Hickman Avenue on Friday after arresting a man suspected of first-degree robbery — two cruisers were seen before 2 p.m. as officers secured a warrant. ABC 17
- ➤ Cody Gore, 29, was booked without bond on Thursday after he allegedly fired multiple rounds from a handgun into a residence on Bonny Linn Drive during an argument — he now faces first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. KOMU 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Missouri Senate Committee will hold a public hearing on Monday—after Anthem was removed from MU Health Care clinics and hospitals on April 1, affecting up to 90,000 patients. Local residents have reported driving long distances for needed care and higher costs, and they hope the hearing will lead to faster resolution. KRCG
- ➤ Construction crews with MoDOT will begin shifting lanes on Business Loop 70 next week when the driving lane between Eastland Circle and Hinkson Creek closes the morning of July 3. Traffic will be directed into the center turn lane with no alternate turn lane available—weather permitting the project may change. KOMU 8
