ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Four vehicles crashed on I-70 near Millersburg Thursday morning when a Peterbilt truck rear-ended a Chevrolet Silverado causing a chain reaction as drivers slowed for heavy congestion — a Columbia woman suffered moderate injuries and was taken to University Hospital while others received minor injuries. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Two Juneteenth celebrations were held June 19 at Douglass Park and Cosmo Park — one with food, music, karaoke and vendors and one with live entertainment, historical displays, children's activities and games. A downtown parade is scheduled June 21 to continue the festivities. KOMU 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Columbia will change downtown meter time limits starting the week after July 4 by reducing options from six to four to simplify payment and boost turnover — 1,666 of 1,795 metered spaces will be affected — while parking rates and enforcement hours remain the same. ABC 17
- ➤ North Callaway Fire Protection District said that I-70 construction zones force firefighters to park and walk over barricades when responding to accidents—sometimes needing help from Millersburg Fire as their access is limited. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported three crashes since early May, including one near Millersburg on Thursday morning, while parts of the improvement project will be completed by late 2027 and finished by the end of 2030.
