- ➤ Glasgow law enforcement used a helicopter Tuesday in their manhunt for a suspect charged with second-degree murder after 18-year-old Zarion Simpson was fatally shot Sunday night in Columbia—officials urged residents to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity. KRCG
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Juneteenth is a federal and Missouri state holiday that marks the end of slavery based on the event of June 19, 1865, when Union troops freed enslaved people in Texas. State offices will be closed on June 19 and local communities will host events to honor the day — a significant reminder of America's journey toward freedom. Columbia Daily Tribune

- ➤ The Columbia City Council looked into a new homeless transportation program after Monday’s meeting to help move nonlocal homeless people back to their homes—using a model from Lawrence that involves bus tickets costing between $30 and $300—and to explore ARPA and federal funding. - ➤ MoDOT crews will begin upgrading pedestrian facilities on Boone County Route WW, known as East Broadway, from Brickton Road to South Rolling Hills Road this week, starting Thursday if weather allows—workers will update sidewalks, curb ramps and pavement approaches to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act.
