- ➤ Westlake Ace Hardware is partnering with The Salvation Army to run their annual Fan Drive in Columbia; the campaign runs May 18 through June 6 to raise funds for new box fans to help local families beat extreme summer heat — donations are accepted in store and online. Columbia Daily Tribune
- ➤ PetSmart will host a free pet adoption event on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 229 N. Stadium Blvd. Sarah Begemann’s giveaway win will benefit the Central Missouri Humane Society with a $10,000 donation & waived adoption fees for customers. KOMU 8

- ➤ CPS high school graduates were honored today in ceremonies that celebrated their hard work, joy, grace and resilience; schools including (Douglass, Hickman, Battle and Rock Bridge) shared inspiring words encouraging new chapters. Columbia Missourian
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city of Columbia released its 2025 State of Homelessness report, showing that Boone County had 309 people experiencing homelessness and 298 shelter beds available. The report highlights that permanent supportive housing (costing $13.76 per day) is the most cost-effective long-term solution. KOMU 8
- ➤ Today at 9 a.m., the Boone County Courthouse hosts a Memorial Day ceremony honoring six Iowa soldiers killed in the Iran conflict and Columbia’s Sterling Wyatt, killed in Afghanistan. A parade starts at 10 a.m. on East Broadway Street and a Gold Star tribute occurs at 11:15 a.m. for families. ABC 17
