- ➤ Family Fun Fest will take place on June 18 at Douglass Park to honor Juneteenth—bringing community members together for a day of celebration. Columbia Missourian
- ➤ Bicyclists will ride from Columbia at Flat Branch Park between 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday to Boonville’s Kemper Park for the Pedaler's Jamboree: Bicycle & Music Festival, enjoying live music and scenic views along the Katy Trail State Park and Missouri River. - ➤ Cody Jinks will perform his Hippies & Cowboys tour on May 29 at 7 p.m. in Columbia as part of the Central Bank Downtown Live summer concert series when 9th Street will be closed for the outdoor event. Inside Columbia
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ United Airlines will resume service from Columbia Regional Airport on Sept. 25 after nearly four years without local flights—offering two daily flights to Denver and one daily flight to Chicago. City officials said the return provides access to 60 international hubs and benefits MU students living in the Chicago area. ABC 17
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, 465 Columbia Public Schools seniors will graduate at Douglass High School at 10 a.m. and Battle High School at 7 p.m., while on Saturday 957 seniors will earn their diplomas at Rock Bridge High School at 11 a.m. and Hickman High School at 5 p.m.—the class of 2025, which earned over $14.5 million in scholarships, includes 1,422 graduates in total. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Erin Keys was officially hired as Columbia’s new Utilities director and will begin on May 25. She served as interim director since March and brings more than 25 years of city infrastructure experience—ensuring a smooth transition for local utilities. KOMU 8
LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ This Saturday, community members will attend a puppy yoga event at Battlefield Lavender in Centralia from 11 a.m. to noon. The event is hosted with Sarah's Yoga Studio, Little Rays of Sunshine Animal Rescue & Missouri Mental Health Foundation and costs $30 per person with an option to rent a mat for $5. Inside Columbia
- ➤ Mid-Missouri will host several car shows this summer (offering family-friendly activities) that give car enthusiasts a chance to enjoy vehicles and community events. Columbia events include Cars and Coffee, an American Legion Riders meet on June 7, and a Crossing Cars meet every second Saturday, while nearby towns have shows from May 30 through September 13 (featuring parades, contests, and charity rides).
