- ➤ A 17-year-old from Roach was hit by an SUV on Thursday evening near Route J and Highway 7 and was flown to University Hospital in Columbia after suffering serious injuries—officials reported the driver did not suffer injuries. KOMU 8
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Columbia Police arrested 19-year-old Ramelus D. Bradley Jr. on May 8 after a victim reported he threatened and assaulted them with a weapon at a residence and a University parking lot+ officers later located him in northern Columbia+ he now faces charges including Fourth-Degree Domestic Assault, Second-Degree Domestic Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Armed Criminal Action. - ➤ Columbia police arrested Salvador Ocasio, 55, and Lionel Monsanto, 26, on Thursday after license plate readers linked them to a nationwide forgery and identity theft scheme involving the postal service — the suspects now face charges of forgery, identity theft and trafficking stolen identities. - ➤ On Friday, Lyle Miller, a man from Monroe County, was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of second-degree murder & tampering with evidence for killing 88-year-old Betty Hayes in 2021, with investigators noting he was reportedly angry with her over unpaid work. ABC 17
- ➤ Lyle Miller, 65 — from Madison — was sentenced last Friday to life in prison for second-degree murder and four years for tampering with evidence after a Monroe County jury convicted him in March of killing 88-year-old Betty Hayes, whose remains were found in July after her disappearance in December 2021. - ➤ A Columbia man was arrested on Thursday after police said he assaulted a woman at her home, where her 2-year-old was present, and threatened her with a weapon at a University of Missouri parking lot—authorities charged 19-year-old Ramelus Bradley with multiple counts including fourth-degree and second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.
