- ➤ One week after a confirmed EF-1 tornado swept through Columbia, city officials reported that at least five homes and several buildings were damaged—residents said that while some, like Cara Joos, experienced only minor loss, others had trees fall on their properties and faced pending repairs with no injuries reported. - ➤ At the University of Missouri, members of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity raised $207,651 for the American Cancer Society during their Rock-A-Thon event where one member sat in a chair for 63 hours. The tradition, which started in 1969, will support pancreatic cancer research this year — marking a record for Greek philanthropy. KOMU 8

- ➤ MU's Newman Center parish has changed its name to St. John Henry Newman Catholic Church while keeping its recognizable elements for students and the community. The change comes after a petition by Shawn McKnight was approved by the Vatican—citing unique pastoral circumstances—and honors the 18th-century British theologian. Columbia Daily Tribune

- ➤ The recycling plant at the landfill remains offline after a tornado hit it on Easter Sunday, so the city resumed curbside recycling pickups even though the material will go into the landfill—city leaders said they want to keep residents in the rhythm of putting out recycling while avoiding extra trash burdens.
