- ➤ Daniel Boone Regional Library launched a $1 million fundraiser to replace its aging bookmobiles during a ribbon cutting Monday morning. The campaign seeks to upgrade two vehicles that serve over 1,500 residents in Boone and Callaway counties — with planned updates like solar panels. KOMU 8
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An EF0 tornado touched down in Cole, Boone and Callaway counties on Friday from 8:08 to 8:33 p.m. and tracked over 23 miles near Hartsburg to west of Fulton, causing damage to large trees and a metal building roof at Elton Hensley Memorial Airport. KOMU 8

- ➤ The University of Missouri now has until April 2027 to upgrade its online accessibility features to meet ADA requirements. Officials said the extended deadline will allow more time to ensure that all users can access the website easily. Columbia Missourian

- ➤ After severe storms, the University of Missouri’s Raptor Rehabilitation Project rescued seven birds over the weekend (six were young, with one euthanized due to severe injuries) and is now testing them for a safe return to the wild. KOMU 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Columbia City Council approved a 15-year lease — with up to four one-year renewals — for nonprofit Love Columbia to renovate the historic property at 200 North Garth Avenue on the African-American Heritage Trail into transitional housing. Love Columbia will oversee $168,000 in repairs so prospective homebuyers can join its Homeowner Readiness Residential Program. KOMU 8
- ➤ Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance offers free help to those affected by last week’s severe storms. Residents can review their policies and call the consumer hotline at 800-726-7390 for assistance. KOMU 8
- ➤ It has been one year since a tornado destroyed Columbia’s recycling facility and officials report that recycling costs now exceed returns as incoming material dropped (from nearly 5,000 tons to about 2,700 tons). In Dec., City Council approved a $3.5 million building project with design bids open and construction expected to finish by early 2028. ABC 17
- ➤ MoDOT closed the U.S. 63 northbound on and off ramps at Grindstone Parkway Monday for interchange improvements, causing rush hour delays. Both ramps will reopen end of June — drivers should expect route changes. KRCG
