CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Boone County prosecutors charged Gerion Young, 26, of Columbia with First Degree Robbery, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of Weapon after he allegedly robbed a man at the 1400 block of Range Line Street at midnight on April 9; he was arrested on April 15 and is held in Boone County Jail without bond. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Merack Center for Dance, formerly Missouri Contemporary Ballet — located in downtown Columbia at the Balsamo Warehouse on 110 Orr Street — offers a space where dancers of all ages can grow their skills in a creative, safe environment. The center's professional instructors also provide outreach programs and free weekly classes with the Boys and Girls Club, and its modern retelling of Cinderella will soon engage the community further. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ MU leaders announced on Wednesday that an agreement was signed with Hyundai Engineering America — KAERI, Hyundai Engineering, and MPR Associates — to begin planning the NextGen MURR reactor. The first phase will take about six months to study the site and figure the cost, and development is expected to take 8-10 years. KOMU 8

- ➤ Humane World for Animals reported that 26 Missouri dog breeders appear on its Horrible Hundred list with 14 in southwest Missouri flagged for repeated care violations at commercial breeding operations—State Rep. Doug Clemens filed HB 185 in January to require healthy practices and ban pet shops from buying animals from operators with past violations. Columbia Daily Tribune
- ➤ Travelers in Columbia face new boarding rules because non-REAL ID driver's licenses will not be accepted for domestic flights starting May 7; military cards and U.S. passports remain valid.
