- ➤ Woodhaven will upgrade five houses for people with disabilities using a $70,000 Community Development Block Grant approved by City Council, with repairs including flooring, showers, and kitchen improvements expected to finish by the end of this year (all work must be complete by March 31, 2027). - ➤ ABK Biomedical plans to build a manufacturing facility next to the Columbia Regional Airport at Cartwright Business Park, where it will produce technology called Eye90 Microspheres (used in liver cancer treatments undergoing clinical trials at MU Health Care) and has hired Columbia-based Coil Construction; timeline details remain pending. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Boone Health withdrew its request for a restraining order against Missouri Heart Center after both sides began negotiations. The health system will shift cardiology care on May 6 when Missouri Heart Center stops service, and Boone Health will open its own clinic + arrange primary care coverage to avoid gaps. KOMU 8
- ➤ A University of Missouri physician found a machine learning model predicted heart risks more accurately than traditional methods using cardiac PET scan data—further research and FDA review are needed before it can be used in clinical settings. KOMU 8
