- ➤ Ride for B, a fundraiser honoring late Southern Boone student Bailey Gipson, will be held on April 11 at the Hartsburg baseball field. The event includes a poker run (with five stops), dinner, auction and live music. KOMU 8

- ➤ Ethan Jones of MindRight Wellness says he will close his shop in November if House Bill 2641 passes, as it requires CBD products be sold only in licensed dispensaries & could cut 20% of his sales. He warned the change will limit affordable relief for many local seniors. ABC 17
- ➤ Announced this morning, Logboat Brewing Co. will open its new Midtown Taproom in spring 2027 at the empty lot on Nifong and State Farm Parkway. The taproom will offer a larger bar, covered patio, private event space, and an on-site pilot brewery. Inside Columbia

- ➤ Columbia kids will soon have the chance to audition for an upcoming Netflix series hosted by former NASA engineer (turned YouTuber) Mark Rober, with auditions organized through Code Ninjas to offer a unique opportunity for curious minds. Columbia Missourian
- ➤ April is Deaf History Month, celebrated through the legacy of the Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton, which opened in 1851. Historic educator and early student Laura Redden Searing, who became a noted journalist after losing her hearing, adds to the rich narrative of Deaf culture in our community. KRCG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Senate approved a bill Tuesday to create a new oversight commission for high school athletic appeals—set to begin in the 2027-28 academic year—with the governor appointing its five members, subject to Senate confirmation. The commission will review cases on student transfers and game disputes while MSHSAA maintains its current process. KOMU 8
- ➤ Downtown safety ambassadors (unarmed and equipped with cameras) will begin weekend patrols on May 19 from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. to support police during busy hours. KOMU 8
