CRIME NEWS

  • Columbia police said a suspect injured in a downtown shooting this morning near Ninth Street and Walnut Street at around 1:49 a.m. was taken to a hospital under police custody (the scene was secured with evidence markers by multiple agencies).  ABC 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Sen. Curtis Trent’s committee approved a GOP bill on Wednesday that would repeal a paid sick leave law—and remove the automatic wage increase tied to inflation—if it passes the Senate. The House already passed the measure and if approved it will go to Governor Mike Kehoe—who has said he will sign it—and take effect on August 28.  Columbia Daily Tribune
