CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police said a man accidentally discharged a gun in his pocket at the I-70 Eagle Stop Gas Station on North Providence Road on Friday night—grazing his knee with very minor injuries and leading to his detention for an outstanding warrant. ABC 17
- ➤ Human remains were found Saturday at Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area in Boone County and the Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating—officials have not disclosed the exact spot—pending further identification. ABC 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Boone County Clerk announced weekend no-excuse absentee voting will begin today for Columbia’s April election races for Mayor, Ward 4 and the Board of Education. Voting will be held one location per day—today at Columbia Mall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 30 at Douglass High School from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 5 at Southern Boone and Centralia libraries from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and April 6 at the Columbia/Boone County Health Department from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—for registered voters who bring photo ID. - ➤ A ceremony at Truman Veterans’ Hospital was held Friday to honor Vietnam War veterans with commemorative lapel pins and certificates — younger veterans also spoke to recognize their service ahead of National Vietnam War Veterans Day. KOMU 8
