GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri House passed a bill to provide a 100% tax credit for donations to pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes and diaper banks. The credit lets donors reduce their tax bill by the full donation up to $50,000 per gift with no overall cap, and critics warn it may spur profiteering and create budget uncertainty. - ➤ Today, the Columbia Housing Authority said 80% of its budget comes from federal funds, and federal cuts may hurt its plans to rebuild old units and add new housing for over 800 people on its waitlist—further straining available resources despite a continuing resolution keeping funds until September. Local groups are also stepping in by building new homes in north Columbia to help address the mounting housing need. KOMU 8
