CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Columbia man identified as 27-year-old Eugy Ngassi-Koumo was charged on Thursday with first-degree harassment and second-degree making a terroristic threat after he called Boone County Joint Communications to ask when a police officer was on duty—he remains without bond at Boone County Jail as a court date has not yet been set. - ➤ Ten-year-old Columbia boy Truman published his 18-page book 'Truman Finds Happiness'—which is rooted in his personal experiences with grief—last February. The book shows how he uses his writing to explore his feelings. Columbia Missourian
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jeff Klein was chosen as the new Columbia Public Schools superintendent and met with community members yesterday at the Aslin Administration Building to address their concerns. - ➤ D'Markus Thomas-Brown was named leader of Columbia's new Office of Violence Prevention and will start on March 31. He brings harm reduction and trauma-informed experience from Good Dads Inc.—a background that equips him to work with law enforcement and community organizations—to reduce violence through better education, financial stability and health.
