CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Morgan County deputies charged registered sex offender James Anthony Ferrell on Thursday after he allegedly tried to lure a child into a white van on Wednesday—he is held without bond on charges of child enticement, second-degree attempted kidnapping and drug possession with a court date pending. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri School Board Association advised districts to spend federal education funds quickly — the Education Department plans to cut more than 1,300 jobs in an effort to reduce its staff by half, a move that could slow reimbursement for Title I and IDEA funds. Officials said they are closely monitoring the situation while funding allocations remain unchanged. ABC 17
- ➤ Thirty-five undergraduate students from local Missouri universities presented research at the Capitol on Thursday for Undergraduate Research Day. - ➤ Columbia postal workers are organizing a rally to oppose plans to shift control of the USPS to the Commerce Department or privatize the service.
