- ➤ At 10:26 a.m. Friday on Waterfront Drive, Boone County firefighters rescued a cat from a tall tree and safely reunited it with its owner. The fire district confirmed the animal is doing well. KOMU 8

- ➤ The True/False Film Fest will run for four days in Columbia and has sold 37,000 tickets, promising a range of film screenings and art exhibits for local audiences. Columbia Missourian
- ➤ MU graduate and filmmaker Jj Measer returns to Columbia to debut his capstone film Pass Time at True/False Film Fest downtown until Sunday. He describes the screening as a homecoming that highlights the support he received from the Murray Center. KOMU 8
- ➤ The Jubilee event took place on Thursday at the Missouri Theatre & Sculpture Yard to launch the 23rd True/False Film Fest, sparking a series of screenings and discussions for local film fans. Columbia Missourian

- ➤ The city and Regional Economic Development Inc. announced a Small Business Grant for eight eligible Boone County businesses meeting employee, sales, and location requirements, with two informational sessions scheduled for March 16 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at REDI Training Room and March 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. online. - ➤ University of Missouri engineers kicked off E-week festivities on campus Friday to honor their patron saint. The events will continue throughout the week for engineering students (a longstanding tradition). Columbia Missourian
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Columbia city leaders and community groups met Thursday, Mar. 5 to review violence prevention efforts and identify service gaps. D’Markus Thomas-Brown from the Violence Prevention Administration stressed the need for expanded outreach—like life coaching and street support—to help vulnerable residents. KOMU 8
- ➤ At a public meeting Friday, COU manager Mike Parks outlined a project to extend the airport parking lot, with bidding beginning after City Council approval (April 6) and construction starting in May. He said the airport is also requesting FAA funds for a new passenger boarding bridge. KOMU 8
- ➤ Starting March 16, I-70 Drive Southeast will close from just west of Woodridge Drive to Glenstone Drive for nearly a year as crews build a new underpass beneath Interstate 70. Motorists are advised to use Keene Street and St. Charles Road as alternate routes, and nearby businesses remain accessible. KRCG
