- ➤ Columbia has opened Love Your Block mini-grant applications offering up to $2,500 for neighborhood projects such as gardens and public art. Submit by March 15; winners will be announced next week for projects due by Aug. 31 plus Saturday assistance events are available. KOMU 8
- ➤ A work crew used a controlled burn on day two of demolition at the former Fear Fest Haunted House in the 6300 block of West Highway 40, following the property owner's request to tear down the costly-to-repair buildings. ABC 17

- ➤ The Columbia Missouri National Education Association endorsed incumbents John Lyman, Paul Harper + April Ferrao for reelection to the school board ahead of the April 7 election. The organization highlighted their record on supporting fair labor practices, classroom resources + student-centered decisions. KOMU 8
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MU Health Care will offer a free heart health screening event on Feb. 21 at the Columbia ARC at 1701 W Ash St from 7-10 a.m., where participants can receive blood pressure, AFIB and BMI tests and attend cooking and exercise demonstrations. KOMU 8
