- ➤ The United States Exercise Tiger Foundation has extended its blanket and pet bed drive through Feb. 12 to reach a goal of 500 donations — the drive collects boots and clothing for veterans and will lead to a Valentines for Veterans event on Feb. 14. KOMU 8
- ➤ Logboat Brewing hosted its first Souper Bowl Tasting and Cook-Off on Saturday in Columbia, where local restaurants competed as guests sampled soups and voted for their favorite. Murry's owner Sarah Lark won the golden ladle and ticket sales raised over $5,000 for The Food Bank (tickets sold out). KOMU 8

- ➤ Carter's Coffee Bar opened its Columbia spot on Stellar Drive (near South Providence Road and Veterans United Drive) Friday, honoring Owen Carter who died battling brain cancer in 2017. The family-run business from Quincy and Palmyra plans to build strong local community ties. KOMU 8

- ➤ True/False Film Fest has announced its 2026 special program selections, featuring the Show Me True/False film 'Seized' which screens on March 7 at 11:45 a.m. at the Missouri Theatre (with an in-person Q&A), the True Life Fund entry 'How to Clean a House in 10 Easy Steps', and a True Vision Award for Ross McElwee. - ➤ The CPS board will review district performance data including test scores, discipline, attendance plus teacher retention and funding projections to guide upcoming school improvements. The review will inform plans to strengthen programs in our community. Columbia Missourian

- ➤ The city announced South Tenth Street between Elm and Locust and Locust Street between South Tenth and Hitt, including sidewalks, will close Feb. 11-18 for roof replacement at Brookside Downtown (219 South Ninth Street).
