- ➤ Turning Point is moving its services to Opportunity Campus this June at the Bowling Street and Business Loop 70 location. The nonprofit will maintain its current hours and essential services + join other community resources for people in need. ABC 17
- ➤ The Pour for a Paw event begins at 5 p.m. Saturday at Wyndham Executive Center to support Armani’s Angels. Guests will enjoy complimentary wine, beer and spirits along with hors d’oeurvres and a live auction — single tickets cost $100 and tables of eight cost $1,100. Inside Columbia
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mizzou earned a spot on TIME’s list of top universities by ranking 13th among U.S. flagships + 124th among 500 schools worldwide. The ranking shows that the school’s education leads to strong results for its students. KRCG
- ➤ The University of Missouri Board of Curators approved an $83 million update to the Keene Street Medical Center (formerly Women’s and Children’s Hospital) to improve outpatient care and allow major procedures, and a 5.2% housing and dining rate hike effective July 1; a vote on academic calendar changes is planned. - ➤ The UM System Board of Curators approved new Master of Science and Ph.D. programs in artificial intelligence for MU and UMKC on Thursday; the programs will prepare students for tech careers and will be sent to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development for final approval. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ At Boone Health’s cafeteria earlier this week, Food Service Supervisor Marian Zellner-Evers saved a choking man by performing the Heimlich maneuver three times+ she stressed that knowing the procedure can be lifesaving. ABC 17
- ➤ The University of Missouri School of Medicine’s Emergency Medicine department was awarded a $4.6 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant to pilot an EMS response program for severe vehicle crashes. The multi-year study will test new prehospital techniques and inform updates to Columbia’s Safety Action Plan and Vision Zero initiatives. KOMU 8

- ➤ Becky and Casey Wright, owners of Banded Rooster Bar and Grill, are traveling nearly 2,000 miles to Levi's Stadium this Sunday to support family member Drew Lock in his first Super Bowl with the Seahawks — they will host a watch party at the restaurant with special appetizers and drink deals. - ➤ Capital City High School held a banquet on Monday to honor its female athletes as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day – guest speakers included UM head softball coach Larissa Anderson and the school partnered with two dozen sponsors to keep the event free. KRCG
