- ➤ Ameren Missouri began upgrading 3.6 miles of aging natural gas lines in East Campus Monday — Phase 1 is underway between Rockhill Road and Cliff Drive, with Phase 2 set for summer and Phase 3 for fall; traffic is managed by the city, MDOT and U of M. ABC 17

- ➤ Local residents sued Hawthorn Bank and Cole County last Friday to block the Feb. 7 auction of 178 acres intended as a county park (the land was left by Lawrence Renn Jr.). Judge Joseph Shetler was assigned Monday and the court will hold a civil session at 9 a.m. Friday. ABC 17
- ➤ Columbia City Council heard a report Monday night from Public Health and Human Services; it urged a five-year plan to reduce homelessness using temporary housing options. The report noted $1M spent on shelters and showed slightly lower homeless counts over recent years. KOMU 8
