  • At a local veterans hospital, Columbia honored Alex Pretti, 37, who was shot by a Border Patrol officer in Minneapolis on Saturday.  Columbia Missourian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Columbia College celebrated its 175th anniversary on Jan. 22 at Dorsey Gym and online, featuring performances by the Jane Froman Singers and speeches from college and community leaders such as Mayor Barbara Buffaloe.   • A Columbia man won a $1 million lottery ticket this month as he joins four others who claimed similar prizes in the Missouri lottery.  Columbia Missourian

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday at 6:45 p.m., No. 7 Mizzou gymnastics will host No. 2 LSU at Mizzou Arena. Head coach Shannon Welker said (fans could help break the 5,000 attendance mark) as the team builds on its recent close matchups.  ABC 17
  • Mizzou Tigers women's basketball team is preparing for a two-game road trip. They will face Mississippi State on Sunday and then play in Arkansas next week.  ABC 17
