- ➤ Columbia Parks and Recreation will host a memorial walk for Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 19. Participants will gather at 6:30 p.m. at Armory Sports Center — 701 E. Ash Street — then proceed to St. Luke United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. KRCG
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missouri Department of Conservation reported that 301,954 deer were hunted during the 2025-26 season, ending Jan. 15 (a nearly 10% increase from last season’s 275,656). ABC 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MoDOT will narrow the eastbound I-70 ramp to Stadium Boulevard for core drilling next week from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21 and Thursday, Jan. 22 to gather samples for the I-70 expansion project. KRCG
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Hy-Vee now offers the FDA-approved low-dose Wegovy pill to eligible patients with a GoodRx discount at its pharmacy locations in the Midwest. The once-daily pill costs $149 per month if patients use a GoodRx coupon, and Hy-Vee supports weight management with dietitian services (both virtual and in-person). Columbia Daily Tribune
- ➤ Burrell Behavioral Health unveiled a new Children’s Grove kindness mural at its newly renovated Berrywood clinic in Columbia on Friday. The mural was created by local artist Adrienne Luther with Children’s Grove and comes as the clinic expands services including transcranial magnetic stimulation and esketamine treatments for depression and anxiety. - ➤ American Red Cross and Boone County emergency services held a blood drive on Friday at Grace Bible Church on Blue Ridge Road to honor late officer Molly Bowden. Donated blood went first to local hospitals and then to state partners to help meet urgent needs. KOMU 8
