- ➤ Regional Economic Development Inc presented a traffic study recommending a new road and signal along Route B between Highway 63 and Waco Road to ease expected congestion near businesses like Schneider Electric and JBS Foods. - ➤ Missouri high school seniors Abdulrahman Adekunle and Emily Thuy Nguyen were chosen for the 2026 Senate Youth Program, which will run in Washington March 7-14 (including meetings with top federal officials) and offer each a $10,000 scholarship to support their public service goals. - ➤ University of Missouri leaders thanked Governor Mike Kehoe on Wednesday for his budget proposal that prioritizes higher education and workforce development to support local colleges and boost workforce skills. KRCG
- ➤ The city will hold a meeting on Jan. 21 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Boone City Building (701 E. Broadway) to discuss a sewer improvement near West Boulevard and Stewart Road to replace an outdated private system. Attendees can review proposals and give feedback. KOMU 8
- ➤ Rock Quarry Road north of Nifong Boulevard will close Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 7 a.m. for an underground stormwater project where a contractor replaces a failed pipe and detour signs guide drivers until Feb. 2 at 7 a.m., weather permitting. KOMU 8
- ➤ Columbia Utilities will host a public meeting on Jan. 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Activity and Recreation Center to gather community feedback on its Electric Integrated Resource Plan that will shape cost-effective energy solutions. KOMU 8
